Last weekend, we had such a good time at the Guttenberg Days (4th of July one week early). Olivia and Anthony were in the parade. Olivia was especially excited because she got to ride in the back of a pick up truck and throw beach balls to people watching! Anthony rode in his stroller and ate animal crackers :). We walked for the Guttenberg Care Center where Tony's mom, Janette, is the "lady in charge" and we walked for Team Dignity. What is Team Dignity? - well it all started by Janette saying that she wanted to climb a mountain for her big birthday coming up soon. Then it started catching on - other people want to come, there are articles in the newspaper about it, other towns in the state of Iowa are having events on the same day that Team Dignity is climbing Mt. Elbert is Colorado on the first weekend in September. Wow - what an awesome thing to do. I'm still trying to convince Tony that we really need to go and do this. Wouldn't it be fun!!!
After the parade there was some fun things to do along the dike - blow up rides and food. Alex & Elayna enjoyed the obstacle course while Olivia was more than happy to go into the blow up bouncy thing...After all of this - the fireworks on the river! It was gorgeous. Olivia was sure how she would like the fireworks. She wanted to see them from far away. While we waited she sang "Happy Birthday to America" for us - they've been practicing at preschool. The fireworks were awesome - it was a great show. We were just in the perfect spot to enjoy them. Anthony sat and watched while Olivia tried not to watch and finally ended up liking them.
On Sunday - we spent the day on the boat. Kids LOVED it. We ate in Cassville, WI and then spent the rest of the afternoon on a beach. Anthony took a nice nap while Olivia ran up and down the sand bar with Uncle Alex and Aunt Elayna. Once he woke up - hand him a couple of "tools" and he was content to bury and dig up things in the sand. It was a wonderful day and a relaxing weekend.
